The conversion of the Telephone Hall in Sofia into a private museum begins

The conversion of the Telephone Hall in Sofia into a private museum may begin. In the beginning of July the chief architect of the capital Zdravko Zdravkov issued a building permit, which came into force on July 29, Mediapool reports.

telephone hall sofia, bulgariaThe iconic building in downtown Sofia, which was purchased by a company affiliated with businessman Vasil Bozhkov in 2017, will become a private museum with exhibition halls and laboratories for the restoration of archeological finds and works of art.

The permit allows the roof to be transformed into an attic floor as well as an underground parking lot.

In 2017, the building became the property of NG Property EAD – wholly owned by New Games, in which businessman and antique collector Vasil Bozhkov is a member of the Board of Directors. He is also involved in the management of NG Property. The transaction price was BGN 33.9 million.

According to the documents submitted for the permit, the building will “grow” by another 4.5 meters. However, according to the investor, this was not an upgrade, but a reconstruction of the roof, which was flowing and in poor condition. It would change its slope to fit into the urban environment.

The building has already been cleaned and prepared for reconstruction, and the nightclubs have vacated the occupied space. According to reports on the social networks, both nightclubs, recently located in The Telephone House – The One and Gotham Club, will move to a new address in the fall.
